I've added some pictures from around my classroom. I totally enjoy thinking through the organization and placement of everything from the students' tables to where they will get new pencils. Let me know if you have any questions, suggestions, or comments!

A View of My Classroom
I've added some pictures from around my classroom. I totally enjoy thinking through the organization and placement of everything from the students' tables to where they will get new pencils. Let me know if you have any questions, suggestions, or comments!
Classroom Pictures
We are doing a sports/teamwork theme. I got these at Party America.
These are our skip counting list. They are always available for students to practice throughout the day. I have their name near the list that they are currently working to master.
This is a small pocket chart I got at the Target $1 bins. I labeled each pocket with the places students go throughout the day: Bathrooms; ELL; Reading Recovery; RTI; Office; Nurse; Think-Time. The next picture shows the students' cards velcroed to a piece of construction paper. The kids take their name off and then put it in the corresponding pocket to show me where they are going. When they come back, they take their card out and velcro it back on!
Kids love this! It was a decorated mailbox that would sit on the counter for students/pen-pal letters...then a custodian added the stand with wheels...I love it, too! I've started implementing The Daily 5, so this is also the place that students hand in their letters they've written during Work On Writing.
This is where I keep my magnetic letters to easily access for Guided Reading. I use silver trays I got from the Dollar Tree.
A day without laughter is a day wasted. :) My favorite poster! It literally makes me smile every time I walk down the hallway and read it.
Neat poster to go along with Todd Parr's books about being different! I love the book and read it at the beginning of each year. This poster is displayed in the hallway so all kids and parents are able to view it.
The Finished Work Tub is where student's always put their work when it is finished. It sits on my red chair and is big enough for many papers or journals, etc. Below that tub is the If You're Done Tub. This works so great! Whenever I have an extra copy of a worksheet, I put it in here. So, when students get done with centers, etc., they can redo pages they've already completed, so they can practice independently. I don't usually check this work since it's just extra practice. :)
Cubbies! Many teachers ask me why I don't get smaller cubbies to take up less shelf space, but I love that these are big enough that if kids need artwork to dry before taking it home it is able to be placed in here, or if they create a wonderful 3D project, it can still fit in their cubby to get it off their desk and to be taken home later.
These are our Browsing Boxes. These come into play while doing The Daily 5. These are "just right books" for each student. They use these during Read to Self and Read to Someone.
Happy Birthday! :) These are Birthday Crowns are what students get to wear during the day while celebrating their birthday. So easy, fun, and cheap! They're made out of bulletin board border! :)
This is part of our sports/teamwork theme. I have pennants hung from the ceiling for each table team with a professional football team name--they love it!
As a see a table team doing well, I will move their table team marker up the field towards making a touchdown...as they don't make good choices, they move back down the field farther from their prize. Whenever the team makes a touchdown, they immediately get a treat. This has worked great for team behavior.
Students have star-charts on their table. When they get five stars, their trophy goes up (Velcroed onto the wall). If they get less than five stars, their trophy goes down. If by the end of Friday, their trophy is up, they get a Trophy Treat.

Each morning the student pick up their stick with their name on it, and put it in the cup with the lunch decision they want for the day. The red is #1 and blue is #2. Both have a picture to show what the choices are. Pink is Salad/Vegetarian. Yellow is for Cold lunch. I got the cups at the Dollar Tree during the summer. :)
When I did "centers" this was the library for independent or buddy-reading. The frog by the orange beanbag chair opens up and has Beanie Babies and other stuffed animals in it for students to whisper-read to. Now that I am doing The Daily 5-and LOVING IT-this is where 2-3 students relax and do Listen to Reading.

Mirror-Mirror on the Wall
Here is a Pinterest-inspired craft I took on today! I had seen a pin that showed adding flowers around the frame, but I had frilly red ribbon lying around and added a touch of femininity with the bows! I love the result!
